Trae Young is still a member of the Atlanta Hawks, which is quite surprising considering most people thought he’d be on a new team by now.

But according to Tim MacMahon, there is a very valid reason why he hasn’t moved to another team: he isn’t wanted in the current trade market.

Per NBACentral, MacMahon wrote:

“The simple fact of the matter is if there was a real market for Trae Young he’d be somewhere else right now. It’s not like they got some kind of wild blockbuster return for Dejounte Murray.”

Trae Young would be on a new team by now if he had a better trade market, per @espn_macmahon

It seems that the trade market just isn’t being very kind to Young and the Hawks.

They were able to move Dejounte Murray during the offseason but it’s been a different story for Young.

That is somewhat surprising because he averaged 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 10.8 assists last season and is still one of the most celebrated guards in the NBA.

But the market out there isn’t demanding Young, which is why he is still with the Hawks.

Unless the team wants to take a smaller return for him, they are essentially stuck with him.

Of course, that isn’t a bad thing because he’s still a very talented player.

But the recent rumors have suggested that the Hawks are ready to move on from the Young era.

If he isn’t moving now, when will Young leave Atlanta?

You can expect to hear many rumors about him over the next few months as the trade deadline approaches.

Perhaps the trade market will be much better at that point or maybe the Hawks will decide they want to keep him for the long-term future.
