The Green Bay Packers had almost everything figured out ahead of their season opener.

Their kicker situation, however, was far from ideal.

They had five kickers on their roster since the end of last season, and the struggling Anders Carlson’s job was far from secure.

HC Matt LaFleur even admitted that their uncertainty at kicker could force them to make some adjustments regarding in-game decisions.

Now, it seems like he’s finally found his guy.

Rookie rookie kicker Brayden Narveson has only been there for a couple of days, but HC LaFleur has now seen more than enough to feel confident about him going forward:

“Yeah, I’ve seen enough to be confident in him,” LaFleur said Sunday. “If that’s what you’re asking: Do I have confidence in him? Absolutely.”

The Packers cut Carlson and kept Greg Joseph on their 53-man roster before claiming Narverson off of waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

They had kept tabs on him during the NFL Draft but never offered him a contract.

Before being waived, Narveson made 6 of 7 field goal attempts in the preseason, including a game-winner and a 59-yarder.

The Packers enter the season as one of the strongest candidates to come out of the NFC, and they will need all three facets of the game to be at their best to live up to that distinction.

Kickers can win or lose a game for you, so they’ll hope Narveson keeps the strong performances going when it actually counts.
