The 2008 Redeem Team was a very special American squad that took home the gold medal in men’s basketball from the Olympics.

All these years later, people still consider it one of the best teams the Olympics has ever seen.

Of course, the same could be said about the 2024 team we just witnessed.

So, which is better?

Speaking on Gil’s Arena, Redeem Team member Dwight Howard said the 2008 crew would beat this year’s group.

This was a statement that Gilbert Arenas agreed with.

Howard pointed out all of the talent that was on the 2008 team.

He played alongside a much younger LeBron James, as well as Kobe Bryant, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Chris Paul, and others.

It was a who’s who of the best NBA talent.

This year’s team was amazing in its own right but they are much older than the 2008 crew and that would have helped the Redeem Team a lot.

Now that the 2024 team has come home as champions, more and more people are comparing them to the groups that came before.

This sort of comparison is expected and it is sure to continue in the months and years ahead.

But all that really matters is that both teams secured the gold for their country and made basketball fans across the world very happy.

The fact that these two teams are brought up so often ensures that they will hold their important places in Olympic history forever.

There is a reason that these teams are being compared to one another and it is because they are both so incredibly special.
