While NFL fans are usually as divided as the rest of the country when it comes to politics, NFL team owners have rarely hidden their affinity for the Republican party.

As such, it was a bit of a shocker to see a political ad stating that Kamala Harris was the Philadelphia Eagles’ official candidate.

Needless to say, it didn’t take long before the ad went viral.

According to a report by NFL insider Ari Meirov, the franchise is already aware of the situation, adding that they affirm the ad is counterfeit and have already been in touch with their advertising partner to get it removed as soon as possible.

Of course, that would’ve been the case if there was an ad supporting Donald Trump as well.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and his wife, Tina Lai Lurie, have been openly critical of the Republican candidate in the past, and they’ve even made donations to Democrat candidates.

Even so, the Eagles as an organization should stay away from any sort of political endorsement, particularly considering how delicate and polarizing the political climate is nowadays.

Team owners are, of course, free to donate and endorse any candidate of their choosing, but the league as a whole should look to not get tangled up in these conversations.

The Eagles have a lot on their plate as things stand now, with their team heading south to play in their season opener vs. the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
