For months, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was looking for a huge contract extension, and he finally got it, agreeing to a four-year, $120 million deal.
Some accused him of being selfish by refusing to practice while pursuing his extension, but it is now water under the bridge.
Speaking to the media recently, Aiyuk admitted to his part in the troublesome nature of the negotiations.
“I’m not gonna lie. I made it a little bit more difficult than it needed to [be] at the end,” Aiyuk said, via 95.7 The Game.

According to reports, the deal Aiyuk eventually agreed to had been on the table for about three weeks.
In the interim, there was the possibility he would be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the 49ers didn’t like the return being offered.
Therefore, they worked to find a way to take back another adequate wideout and reportedly looked to acquire Courtland Sutton, who scored 10 touchdowns last year, from the Denver Broncos.
But Denver said no to San Francisco’s offer, and Aiyuk eventually signed on the dotted line.
He is the Niners’ top option in their passing game, as he led them in receptions (75) and receiving yards (1,342) last season, and at age 26 could even increase that production moving forward.
With both Aiyuk and star left tackle Trent Williams now getting the contracts they wanted, the Niners can focus on keeping the main thing the main thing without the business side of football getting in the way.
Though they have arguably the best roster in the NFL, San Francisco hasn’t won the Super Bowl championship since the 1994 season, and there is lots of pressure to finally bring home another Vince Lombardi Trophy.
