You have to be tough and have thick skin if you want to make it in the NFL.

That’s whether you’re a player or a staff member.

However, even the toughest people can get emotional at times.

That was the case with Chicago Bears GM Ryan Poles, who had to make the very difficult decision to cut ties with safety Adrian Colbert.

In the final episode of Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Chicago Bears, we can see the Bears GM shedding some tears before cutting ties with him.

Colbert’s upbringing and journey to the league has been far from easy, and Poles was aware of that when he let him go.

He was struck by a car when he was a kid, and he was in a coma for two weeks.

Colbert beat the odds and made it to the league as a seventh-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

He’s made 41 appearances thus far, playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Chicago Bears, the team he signed in 2022.

Of course, his backstory made this quite an emotional moment, but that’s just the worst part of being a decision-maker.

The Bears will kick off their season and the Caleb Williams era on Sunday vs. the Tennessee Titans.

As for Colbert, he’s not going to give up on his dream and his career, and he might still find another home in free agency.
