Sports fans have wondered for years if and when Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless will ever have an on-screen reunion, and those questions have been coming up even more often lately since Bayless recently left Undisputed and FS1, leaving his immediate future uncertain.

In a recent media appearance, Smith opened up about his relationship with Bayless.

Smith recently appeared on Fully Loaded with Cris Carter and Sean Meaike and said that over the past year and a half, he and Bayless have only spoken one time, adding “He got upset over something he thought I said to JJ Redick and he went on his podcast and attacked me for about 45 minutes, and then I flew to California to approach him face to face and we resolved that issue…our relationship admittedly hasn’t been the same since that moment but it doesn’t mean that I don’t love him.”

Smith added that he has told Bayless he understands why people don’t like him and has told him he can’t speak about certain players the way he does when he has gotten out of line.

He had plenty of nice things to say about his new partner Shannon Sharpe, who also worked alongside Bayless, and said it was unacceptable the way Bayless treated him in their infamous on-camera spat that set in motion the end of their partnership.

This is the most Smith has opened up about this topic, and it doesn’t sound like a Bayless reunion is in the cards, which is for the best.
