Ben Simmons has been one of the most scrutinized players in the NBA in recent years after a litany of back injuries have sapped him of much of his athleticism and kept him off the floor for all but 57 games over the past three seasons.
One NFL player believes he has teammates who can score more than the 3-time All-Star, who averaged just 6.1 points per game last season.
Former defensive tackle Gerald McCoy recently went on Gil’s Arena with former NBA superstar Gilbert Arenas and said “I have teammates in my locker room that go, ‘I can get more than Ben Simmons.’ I’m like, ‘stop lying.’”
Gerald McCoy says he has teammates in the NFL who believe they could score more than Ben Simmons in an NBA game

There’s nfl coaches who could score more … pretty easy to score more points than Ben Simmons when the coward is too afraid to even shoot the ball

Fellow former NBA player Rashad McCants said he believes a guy like Myles Garrett could go into an NBA game and be effective right away, especially after seeing him in last season’s celebrity All-Star game when he looked like a grown man playing amongst children.
McCoy said he doesn’t believe his teammates and said they don’t understand the skill and the type of athleticism involved in playing at the NBA level.
It’s just an easy claim to make because there are no parameters to it, and people forget that even with three consecutive lost seasons, Simmons is still a career 14.4-point-per-game scorer on 56-percent shooting.
Even if the bar is six points, is this hypothetical involving a player playing a full 35-40 minutes in a game and taking as many shots as they want?
If that’s the challenge, I could score six points too if left wide open in the corner twice.
McCoy is probably right in his assessment here, but good luck telling Myles Garrett he can’t do something.
