A few years ago, superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens was the talk of the NFL, as he sent shockwaves throughout the league by winning the NFL MVP award in 2019, which is something no one saw coming.
Although Jackson has dealt with some injuries ever since winning the regular-season award five years ago, the versatile quarterback was able to get back to form as one of the elite quarterbacks in the league last season, leading the Ravens to the AFC Championship Game.
Despite falling apart in that game against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, which was concerning for Baltimore during its championship window, Jackson won his second NFL MVP award and has high hopes of having another solid year in 2024.
With Jackson making headlines on a daily basis once again, he’ll be in the conversation for the regular-season award right out of the gate in Week 1, but Patrick Mahomes is still the face of the league.
Former NBA star Paul Pierce recently made an interesting statement about Jackson, claiming that if he played for the Dallas Cowboys, he’d be the face of the NFL via Speak On FS1.
“If Lamar was on Dallas right now, same accolades, he’d be the face of the league. If Lamar was on San Francisco… he’d be the face,” Pierce said.

With the Cowboys being the most popular professional sports franchise in this country, any player at that quarterback position for Dallas usually gets a lot of attention, as Dak Prescott has ever since he took over for Tony Romo.
If Jackson were the starting quarterback for the Cowboys, he’d likely have a case for being the face of the NFL, especially if Dallas had some success in the NFL playoffs.
However, with Mahomes winning three titles during his time with the Chiefs, it’s hard to envision any quarterback competing with him for that distinction right now.
