The Houston Texans headed into the 2023 NFL season with a rookie head coach, DeMeco Ryans, and a rookie quarterback, CJ Stroud, and virtually no one expecting much from the struggling franchise.
In an incredible twist, the Texans ended up quickly becoming one of the best teams in the league, armed with a high-powered offense and formidable defense that resulted in an AFC South division title, a playoff berth and a huge upset win over the Cleveland Browns in the postseason.
Even though the Texans couldn’t get by Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the playoffs, Houston did enough to right the ship and provide a lot of optimism for the future of the franchise with Stroud leading the way under center and Ryans as the leader on the sideline.
As if things weren’t trending enough in the right direction for the Texans, the franchise made some big moves during the offseason, adding players like wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon.
These two additions on offense have impressed Stroud, who calls both veterans some of the most competitive players he’s ever played with.

With Diggs and Mixon adding more firepower to an already talented offense and the team also bringing in pass rusher Danielle Hunter, the Texans are expected to be a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the AFC in 2024.
Only time will tell if the Texans can live up to the hype, but things look promising in Houston for the foreseeable future.
