After making a name for himself as the face of USC football over the past few years, Caleb Williams drew the attention of every team in the NFL, as many believe he could be the next big thing at the quarterback position on the professional level.
Last year, the Chicago Bears traded the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to the Carolina Panthers, who then selected quarterback Bryce Young out of Alabama.
Fortunately for Chicago, the Bears were then able to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft because of the Panthers’ 2-15 record last season, which put them in position to pick a potential superstar with Williams and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels there for the taking.
Although Daniels got some consideration for the top pick, Williams seemed like the Bears’ choice all along, and he has already impressed during the NFL preseason, leading to a lot of optimism in Chicago.
With Williams set to get his NFL career underway against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1, the promising young player left behind a lasting legacy at the University of Southern California, with the school officially retiring his No. 13 jersey, according to Dov Kleiman.

This is quite an honor for someone who hasn’t even played a snap in an NFL regular season game, yet he made enough of an impact at USC for the school to ensure his place among Trojans royalty.
The announcement comes with the Bears preparing to host the Titans at Soldier Field, where Williams will make his NFL debut with a lot of football fans tuning in to see if he’s the real deal right out of the gate.
