Over the past couple of years, the Dallas Cowboys have become a juggernaut on both sides of the football, with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb leading the charge on offense while Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence and Trevon Diggs get it done defensively.
Although the Cowboys have always been known for being a high-powered offense with prominent star quarterbacks like Prescott, Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman and Tony Romo, Dallas might be better on defense right now.
The Cowboys will head into the 2024 NFL season with the distinction of being one of the best defenses in the NFL, led by a generational talent like Parsons, but Dallas makes plays collectively, and some seem to think a new star could emerge on the unit this year.
With Deron Bland on injured reserve with a foot injury, former NFL defensive lineman Chris Long talked about how cornerback Caelen Carson could make some noise in a bigger role during the 2024 campaign.
“This guy is gonna have to be big,” Long said on his “Green Light with Chris Long” show. “… I think this guy is gonna be hugely important.”

With several game-changers on the defensive side of the ball, a player like Carson might have an excellent opportunity to make a name for himself while opposing offenses focus on not letting Parsons, Diggs or Lawrence impact the game.
Although the offense will garner most of the attention during the 2024 campaign, as it tends to do for most teams in the NFL, especially one as popular and as intriguing as the Cowboys, Dallas might be able to go the distance if the defense plays at a high level this season thanks to players like Carson stepping up.
