When news broke that San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot during an armed robbery attempt, it was feared that he would face months of rehabilitation or that he may never play football again.
But he was released from the hospital after just one day and soon was back at the 49ers practice facility working out.
Wideout Deebo Samuel was asked about the incident and said he was amazed at how quickly Pearsall has recovered.
“It was kind of shocking to me at first,” Samuel said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “… The next day I went to see him and he said he was in good spirits, so I was good.”

Pearsall was the 49ers’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida.
The Niners have been hoping he will be one of several young players who can help extend their Super Bowl window well past this season, especially given how expensive it will be for them to keep together their star-studded core.
Pearsall’s quick turnaround from sustaining that gunshot wound to his chest inspired star left tackle Trent Williams to end his lengthy holdout and agree to a restructured deal.
With that, the Niners were able to put aside their contract-related drama and get down to the business of getting back to the Super Bowl and winning their first Vince Lombardi Trophy since the 1994 season.
They have lost in the big game twice in the past five seasons, including in February, when they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in heartbreaking fashion, and nothing short of winning a world championship will make this season a successful one for them.
