The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best wide receivers in the game, and they gladly agreed to compensate him as such.

A.J. Brown is currently the highest-paid wide receiver in the league.

He signed a three-year contract extension worth a whopping $96 million.

Brown now has the highest annual value at $32 million per year on average.

Nonetheless, when asked about what it meant to be the biggest earner at the position, he was completely unfazed by that (via Around the NFL):

“Nothing. Nothing,” Brown said. “I want to prove it. … We don’t play on paper. Nobody cares what’s in the bank account when you step between them lines.”

Of course, part of that has to do with the fact that the market keeps blowing up, so it’s just a matter of time before he loses that distinction.

If anything, that could happen any day now, as guys like Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, and Justin Jefferson are also looking to get paid, and they might all set new records when they get their respective deals.

At the end of the day, it’s not about who gets the most money but about who makes the biggest impact and has the better accolades.

They’re all millionaires and more than set for life, so even though ego is clearly involved and they use one another’s contracts as starting points for deals of their own, the only thing that matters to that player is stacking up rings.
