A Massive Offseason Appears To Be Unfolding For One NBA Team

For years, Bob Myers had the Golden State Warriors as a finely tuned machine.

They had to spend big bucks to win championships, but those investments came with massive returns.

Now, with an aging core of players and in a tough spot in terms of the salary cap, Mike Dunleavy Jr. will have to be very aggressive to keep them in contention.

As Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports pointed out on Twitter, this could be quite an eventful offseason for the Dubs.

The Warriors lost out on Paul George, plus they’re preparing to move on from Klay Thompson.

Chris Paul could soon be waived to clear $30 million in cap space.

Andrew Wiggins is being aggressively shopped on the trade market.

Thus far, they’ve missed the boat on Paul George and will most likely lose Klay Thompson to free agency.

They’re also likely to waive Chris Paul to clear $30 million in cap space if they can’t find him a trade suitor, all while Andrew Wiggins is also being aggressively shopped.

Unlike Myers, Dunleavy Jr. has no emotional ties to the core players, and he could make some rather difficult decisions if it came to that.

Myers left the boat right before it sunk, and he may have seen all of this coming.

Simply put, their veterans are making way too much money, yet Stephen Curry is the only one who keeps backing up his salary with his play on the court.

The Warriors are going to find a tough time getting some championship-caliber role players, particularly with their current salary cap situation.

Whatever the case, it’s more than evident that they must go through a roster overhaul to get back to the top, whether it’s now or in the future.
