We often hear about how baseball is a strange game where strange things can take place.
Of course, everybody always chalks it up to it being the nature of game by saying “that’s baseball.”
However, something truly remarkable and confusing is taking place this year in Major League Baseball.
Not often does one MLB team lead a division with a losing record while another sits at the bottom with a winning record.
However, that is the case this season.
The Minnesota Twins are currently at the top of the weak American League Central division with a record of 36-37.
Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox are at the bottom of the AL East, but have a record of 38-35.
On Twitter, the MLB podcast “Talkin’ Baseball” took note of this rare occurrence.

It’s not uncommon for certain divisions to be top-heavy while others are simply weak.
Given that the Twins are under .500 yet still leading the AL Central, it is clear that this division is the weakest in all of baseball.
But with Boston at the bottom of the AL East while still being over .500, the AL East currently masquerades as the toughest division in the entire league.
Not often does something like this happen, but it’s clear that these two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum.
One team is benefitting from playing in the weakest division, while another is suffering the consequences of playing in such a tough division.
As the records indicate, Boston would be in first place if they were in the AL Central, while the Twins would be at the bottom of the AL East.
