The Miami Dolphins finished the 2022 NFL season with a 9-8 record and snuck into the playoffs.

After an injury-plagued year, the Dolphins will head into the 2023 season with fresh aspirations, hoping to make a deeper run.

The Dolphins have been relatively quiet during free agency, and they only have four picks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Even though they have limited capital, the Dolphins continue to meet with draft prospects ahead of the draft.

According to NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, the Dolphins are slated to hold a private workout with Shakel Brown, a defensive tackle.

As Wilson indicates, Brown is a rising prospect in this year’s class.

Even though he is close to 300 pounds, Brown ran a 4.82 40-yard dash and his other measurables have resulted in interest from over 20 teams.

The Dolphins have just two day-two picks in this year’s draft, holding the 51st and 84th selections.

Will they use one of those picks on Brown, adding to their defensive unit?

Last year, the Dolphins defense allowed 24.6 points per game, which was the seventh-highest total in the league.

While their offense was able to make up some ground, when Tua Tagovailoa got injured, everything changed for this team.

Adding impactful players to this defense could help them succeed to greater levels during the regular season, potentially leading to a deep playoff run.

The AFC East has gotten significantly more difficult over the offseason, as the New England Patriots and New York Jets have both added significant pieces.

For the Dolphins to keep up, they too will need to keep adding to their roster.
