Aaron Gordon has really come into his own since joining the Denver Nuggets a couple of seasons ago.

In the 2022-23 season, he averaged 16.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

He often helped the team in huge ways with pivotal blocks and suffocating defense.

During the playoffs, the Nuggets have called upon Gordon even more and he’s been eager to step up.

According to him, he is making amazing memories blocking some of the best players in the game.

“I’m definitely gonna be sitting in my rocking chair when I’m 79 or 90 years old and talking to my kids about ‘yeah, back in the day, I locked these guys up,’” Gordon recently told the press about his defensive tasks.

Since the start of the postseason, Gordon has had the responsibility of blocking Karl-Anthony Towns, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and now Jimmy Butler.

He got off to a great start in the Finals on Thursday, scoring 16 points and 6 rebounds.

He was a dominant force for his team, especially in the first half of the game.

Because of Gordon’s work, Butler was held to just 13 points throughout the game and never once approached the free-throw line.

Gordon’s contributions to the team show just how deep the roster is and how talented and versatile too.

Many people only think of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray when they talk about the Nuggets.

While both of those players are amazing, the Nuggets are really thriving because they have multiple stars who work well all over the floor.

As great as Jokic is, he isn’t always known for his defensive skills.

That puts more pressure on Gordon – and he is ready for it.

If he keeps stepping up and keeps locking Butler down, the Nuggets could be earning their first championship ring.
