The New York Yankees have dropped 12 of their last 14 games, including a nine-game losing streak.
They recently lost a series against the Washington Nationals, and over the weekend, they were also defeated in two out of three games against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Not even the presence of their best player, Aaron Judge, has been enough to avoid an ugly skid in recent weeks.
In fact, Judge was awful over the weekend against the Rays.
“Quiet series for Aaron Judge: Friday: 0-for-4, 4 K, BB, R; Saturday: 0-for-4, K; Sunday: 0-for-4, 3 K,” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted.

Yikes.
For those keeping score at home, that’s an 0-for-12 performance with eight strikeouts.
Of course, the Rays pitching staff is very, very good.
It’s actually among the best in the league.
Judge had to face Zach Eflin, who struck out 11 Yankees on Friday, then Tyler Glasnow on Saturday and Zack Littell on Sunday.
That and a dominant bullpen.
Even the best players are prone to having a bad weekend from time to time, and if we consider that Judge isn’t playing at 100 percent due to his toe ligament injury, we are willing to give him a pass.
After all, despite missing a lot of games and playing hurt, he owns a 1.015 OPS this season in 328 plate appearances, with 28 home runs.
Had he played a similar number of games as last season, he would have gotten close to the home run tally he had last year: 62.
He remains the most productive right-handed hitter in the game when healthy and will remain the Yankees’ best hope for 2024 and beyond.
