New York Jets fans have been waiting too long to see Aaron Rodgers on the field again, as last year’s absence following the four-snap debacle before he tore his Achilles only made the heart grow fonder.

Fans had to wait a little longer to even see him suit up this offseason after the QB missed minicamp, and Rodgers recently admitted he was fined for not showing up.

Rodgers spoke with the media at training camp and addressed why he took a trip to Egypt during the week of mandatory minicamp, saying “I had a great talk with Robert (Saleh). Obviously, he wanted me to be there. I knew the consequences if I wasn’t gonna be there. The reaction is what it is.”

Rodgers appears to be fully recovered from his torn Achilles and is ready to go ahead of Week 1, but his absence from minicamp was puzzling even though the organization didn’t seem to have much of an issue with the situation.

After so many years in the league, Rodgers has to pick his spots and preserve his 40-year-old body, especially coming off a serious injury.

The Jets invested heavily in the offense this offseason and brought in Tyron Smith to take over at left tackle, Morgan Moses at right tackle, and Mike Williams at wide receiver in an effort to keep Rodgers healthy and thriving into his 40s.

June/July probably isn’t the best time to go to Egypt given the heat, but Rodgers is an unconventional guy and hopefully looking at the pyramids did more for him than going through minicamp walkthroughs and film sessions.
