In just his third season as a full-time starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers led the storied Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl championship over another storied franchise in the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But since then, despite year after year of outstanding play, his career has been marred by four losses in the NFC Championship Game and zero trips back to the Super Bowl.

Rodgers is hoping that will change after he was traded to the New York Jets on Monday.

During his introductory press conference, he said that he is getting up there in age and he therefore wants to play for a team that can win it all.

Aaron Rodgers, speaking live now on @nflnetwork, cites many reasons for wanting to play for the #Jets.

Most important: “I’m an old guy, so I want to be a part of a team that can win at all. I believe this is a place where we can get that done.”

Just a couple of years ago, the Packers were thought to have a real shot at winning it all, but they lost in the NFC title game in 2019 and 2020 to the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, respectively.

Last season, without star wide receiver Davante Adams, their offense was anemic, and they sagged to an 8-9 finish while missing the playoffs.

The Jets, on the other hand, have a young and ascendent team headlined by Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner, Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, and star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

While Rodgers needs the Jets, they also need him, as they haven’t won the world championship since Joe Namath led them to a win in Super Bowl III.

In the New York City area, people expect nothing but the best, and now expectations for the Jets will be as high as the Empire State Building.
