On August 20, Ian O’Connor’s book about Aaron Rodgers, titled “Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers” will be officially released.

Rodgers himself did not “authorize” the book and he did not partner with O’Connor in the writing process.

On Tuesday, Rodgers was interviewed about the book, and as usual, he was candid.

“He did a lot of research,” Rodgers said regarding O’Connor. “It has nothing to do with me. But he did a lot of research on his own. He’s done other books with other famous people in sports. I think he reached out to 500 people and talked to maybe half those people.”

In the interview, Rodgers did mention that he enjoyed reading the chapter about his grandfather, who was a prisoner of war in WWI.

Upon reading the chapter, Rodgers learned things about his grandfather he was not aware of and appreciated the information O’Connor shared.

However, Rodgers believes that there will most likely be information in the book that paints the Jets QB in a certain light that he doesn’t think is quite accurate.

“A lot of the stuff that was in there I mean is 20-plus years old,” said Rodgers. “And I commend him for the time he spent on it, but it’s not a book I asked him to write for me. He wrote it on his own, and there will be some interesting things in there that are perspective-based, for sure be some stuff that’s true. . . . I commend him. He was trying to do a really good job, and get the entire picture. But you have to put everything into context.”
