This past offseason, the New York Jets did everything in its power to build a playoff contender for 2024.

The team signed several free-agent players for both sides of the ball to shore up weak areas.

Having quarterback Aaron Rodgers return after an Achilles injury sidelined him after just four plays last year is another plus for Jets fans.

Just when things were looking rosy, the organization was dealt another blow on Monday.

Pass rusher extraordinaire, Haason Reddick, who was acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in April, announced that he wants to be traded again.

Reddick has yet to play a down for the Jets but has held out of camp while seeking a new contract.

New York is set to pay him the $14.5 million he is already due, but Reddick wants a completely new deal.

When Rodgers was asked about the situation on Tuesday, the quarterback answered that he thinks Reddick should stay put and come along for the ride.

“Obviously we’d love for him to be here, but we don’t judge him for trying to do what’s best for him. I think what’s best for him is to be a Jet, because this is going to be a fun ride.”

“Obviously we’d love for him to be here, but we don’t judge him for trying to do what’s best for him. I think what’s best for him is to be a Jet, because this is going to be a fun ride,” Rodgers said via “Jets Videos.”

The Jets defense is already brimming with talent and John Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson are two very good pass rushers.

However, the Jets front office wants Reddick in camp because he is one of the best edge rushers in the league and the team knows it.

Joe Douglas, New York’s general manager, has said publicly that the franchise has no intention of trading Reddick and that he needs to report to camp.

It’s now a case of who blinks first.
