The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk have been a topic of conversation all offseason.
The All-Pro receiver is looking for a big extension from the team, which has yet to pay up for him.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently spoke on how things currently stand with the two sides out in the Bay Area.
“The 49ers absolutely do want Brandon Aiyuk back…They want him here. They just don’t want him at the number he wants to be there at,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show.

San Francisco did draft a possible first-round replacement for Aiyuk in Florida’s Ricky Pearsall earlier this offseason, so they are prepared for a trade situation.
However, no official word has yet been given on what both sides are going to do.
Aiyuk could be the No. 1 wide receiver on most teams in the league right now.
He has put together back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and is coming off a career year in terms of receiving yards (1,342).
However, the 49ers are a well-oiled machine on offense and use many players.
Running back Christian McCaffrey, who was named the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year, just got extended this offseason.
All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel got paid a few offseasons ago, and five-time Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle is one of the league’s highest-paid tight ends.
The team is already paying for so many important pieces.
Aiyuk is the team’s best true wide receiver, but he probably doesn’t deserve to be paid like a superstar because he is a role player.
The situation is fascinating and only both sides know when this contract battle will end.
