The Kansas City Chiefs released some troubling injury news on Saturday night as ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced that wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was hospitalized with a dislocation of his sternoclavicular shoulder joint suffered during the team’s preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Just hours after breaking the news, Schefter shared an update on Brown’s status.
Early Sunday morning, Schefter tweeted that Brown was discharged from a Jacksonville-area hospital and has been cleared to return to Kansas City.

It’s not the most devastating injury, but it’s enough to at least put Brown’s first few regular season games in jeopardy.
After the horrible season the Chiefs endured from their wide receivers last year, the team was counting on Brown to emerge as its new No. 1 option for Patrick Mahomes and fill the void that still hasn’t been filled since Tyreek Hill was traded a few years ago.
Brown signed a 1-year deal to join the Chiefs this offseason and is set to headline this receiver room, and it’s unfortunate he will now have less time to build chemistry with his new quarterback and get comfortable in a new offense.
Brown suffered the injury after catching a pass for 11 yards and didn’t seem to be in much pain at all until he went over to the sidelines.
The Chiefs decided to play their starters in Week 1 of the preseason despite being fresh off back-to-back Super Bowl victories, as head coach Andy Reid is a firm believer in letting his guys get reps in the preseason.
Reid also noted this is the same shoulder injury that Tyreek Hill suffered in 2019, which was the only time he ever played fewer than 15 games in a season.
