The NFL offseason has been something of a whirlwind, to say the least.

Several marquee players entered the offseason looking for new contracts.

Some of them received new deals, such as Jordan Love and Justin Jefferson, while others, like CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, and Brandon Aiyuk, have yet to ink a new contract.

Aiyuk and Lamb have been the most discussed in recent weeks, but Adam Schefter recently called attention to Ja’Marr Chase’s current issues with the Cincinnati Bengals.

When talking about Chase in a recent segment of Fantasy Football Now on ESPN, Schefter expressed concern for what’s happening in Cincinnati.

“To me, this is the one that remains the most mysterious. Because, unlike Brandon Aiyuk and CeeDee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase has two years left on his contract, not one,” Schefter said.

As Schefter mentioned, Chase still has two years left on his rookie deal with the Bengals.

Conversations for an extension likely weren’t due to occur until next year’s offseason, which Schefter finds mysterious, as he put it.

However, given the current circumstances, the Bengals might have to act quicker than they prefer.

Chase is nowhere to be found at training camp, and it appears that he is not going to play until he signs an extension.

It will be interesting to see if that is the case, and if the Bengals end up budging to get their star WR on the field.

For a team that’s trying to get back to the Super Bowl, they cannot afford any roadblocks, self-inflicted or otherwise.
