There have been several NFL teams that have been interested in acquiring disgruntled San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk this preseason.

One team that was thought to be in the mix is no longer a possible destination, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

“Commanders are not in on Brandon Aiyuk,” Schefter said recently on “The Pat McAfee Show,” via Brandon of ML Football.

It appears Aiyuk will not be going to play with his former college teammate, Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, from their time with Arizona State back in the 2019 season.

As a matter of fact, nobody knows where Aiyuk will be playing this season.

The 26-year-old is about to enter the final year of his current contract and has been looking to cash in this offseason with a lucrative extension.

However, the 49ers have not been willing to hand over the bag just yet.

If Aiyuk was on almost any other team, he might be the No. 1 wide receiver.

He has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons for head coach Kyle Shanahan.

But in San Francisco, the offense runs like a well-oiled machine with many players having significant roles.

It seems Aiyuk is not seen as San Francisco’s No. 1 wide receiver by the front office, but rather another ingredient to a great offensive recipe that has helped the team reach the Super Bowl twice in the pst five seasons.

That could be why the Niners aren’t willing to pay Aiyuk top-of-the-market money.

While the Commanders are out on Aiyuk, perhaps another team with attractive assets could come in and hand over a big pile of cash to the former first-round pick.
