Kevin Porter Jr. of the Houston Rockets is in some seriously legal hot water following a recent incident in which he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend inside of a New York City hotel.

The 23-year-old has been charged with assault and strangulation after his significant other was found with a fractured neck vertebra, lacerations to her face, and a cut above her right eye.

The Rockets are now reportedly looking to trade Porter, and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made a succinct comment about the charges the guard is facing, per Jonathan Feigen via NBACentral.

Last season, Porter averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 rebounds a game for the 22-60 Rockets, and he is one of a number of standout players who are originally from the Seattle area.

He is a good, promising young player, but his alleged domestic violence incident wasn’t his first scrape with indiscretion.

When he was a rookie during the 2019-20 season, he was suspended without pay for one game after he made contact with a referee.

Then, during the offseason, he was involved in a vehicle crash, which led to him being arrested on multiple charges, including improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Once the 2020-21 campaign started, Porter reportedly threw a tantrum in the locker room and even threw food at one point.

Houston is in building mode a couple of years after trading stars Russell Westbrook and James Harden, and they have some bright prospects, including Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., and 2023 first-round draft choice Cam Whitmore.

In addition, they gave veteran point guard Fred VanVleet, who won the NBA title in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors, a lucrative contract to join the team.
