The NBA desperately needed to do something about load management, and it seems like that moment is finally here.

The league is looking to implement some rules and hefty penalties for teams resting healthy players, especially ahead of nationally televised games.

With that in mind, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver shared his thoughts on this matter, stating that the expectation is that healthy players should play throughout the course of an 82-game season (via HoopsHype).

He thinks that the notion is changing drastically, and he doesn’t like it when he sees young, healthy players resting in games just for the sake of it.

He vowed that the league will move away from that, stating that players get rest days anyway.

Truth be told, it was about time the league cracked down on this, as it was getting out of hand.

Granted that the grind of an 82-game season isn’t for everybody, but that’s why the best players in the world make it to the NBA.

Decades ago, players didn’t have private jets, countless personal trainers, and several staffers looking out for their health 24-7, and sports science hadn’t reached the heights it’s reached nowadays.

Still, players managed to stay on the court for 15+ years.

The fans want to see the best players on Earth, and they’re getting paid millions to play a game.
