Situations like James Harden’s with the Philadelphia 76ers have become a growing concern for the NBA.
It’s becoming more and more common to see star players demanding a trade, which isn’t bad in itself.
The issue is that they’re also demanding their trade destination, and that simply cannot happen.
When asked about that, Adam Silver told Craig Carton that he thinks Harden is an emotional guy, adding that he hopes they settle their beef soon.
The Commissioner stated that the players need to understand that their teams need to get value in return for their services as well.
“This isn’t a new issue in the league. James…there’s no doubt that he’s an emotional guy. I’m hoping this Harden situation just settles out. I know he’s been hot, he’s said some things.”

This has become a common trend with Harden.
He’s forced his way out of three teams, and he’s also gotten to choose where he’s headed to, all while making tens of millions of dollars.
It seems like some star players want to have it all, and that’s not how life works.
You can get to choose where to play; that’s what free agency is for.
If you want to leave your team despite still being under contract, that’s fine, you have every right to do so, but the team doesn’t have to trade you to any place unless they get decent value in return.
Most teams have shut their door on Harden because of this.
It’s been a lot of drama and not a lot of championship-winning with him as of late.
He’s not getting any younger, and at one point teams start to ask themselves whether it’s actually worth the trouble.
