The NFL has changed a lot throughout the years.
For many years, teams adopted a ground-and-pound approach, trying to mostly win games through a dominant rushing attack.
With this in mind, defenses had to get crafty in how they were formulated, as teams had to adapt to this style of play.
Things have changed a lot in recent seasons, as the league has transitioned.
Most teams have shifted to a pass-first approach, making quarterbacks and pass-catchers more valuable to their organizations.
This change has happened quickly for veteran players like Adam Thielen.
Thielen recently spoke with the NFL Network while he was at the American Century Championship, highlighting the evolution of the game.
“It’s gotten younger, it’s gotten faster, it’s gotten more physical, I think,” Thielen said, adding, “I think things are moving so fast. You have linebackers that are moving faster than receivers, and you have defensive linemen, honestly, that are running just as fast as receivers, tight ends.”

In Thielen’s eyes, everyone in the league has gotten faster and better as a whole.
This makes it that much more difficult for players and teams to succeed, as they are dealing with a new generation of athlete talent.
It will be interesting to see how Thielen plays in the 2024 season, and if he’ll have any different techniques or maneuvers moving forward to combat these changes.
The Carolina Panthers are counting on him to be a factor on the field and in the locker room, hoping to have improved success from their 2023 campaign.
