Retirement doesn’t mean the same thing for every MLB player.
Some of them see it as a chance to rest from all the working out and traveling to spend more time with their families.
Others, however, want to remain involved with the game and only retire because their body dictates it.
Some want to be executives, while others pursue manager gigs eventually.
It looks like former St. Louis Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels, and Los Angeles Dodgers star Albert Pujols is part of that last group.
According to Angels insider Sam Blum, the MLB legend wants to be a skipper and is planning to meet with an expert in the area to get every important detail he needs to know.
“Albert Pujols said today that, at some point, he’d like to manage in the Major Leagues. He’s planning to get dinner with Tony La Russa this week to discuss the ins and outs of the job,” Blum tweeted.

La Russa was Pujols’ manager in St. Louis for years.
Even without meeting with him, we can say that he learned more than a few things.
However, preparing to be a manager requires more than just MLB playing experience.
Incredible awareness, bullpen management, familiarity with modern terms and approaches, excellent communication skills, and some creativity are just a few traits needed to be a good manager nowadays.
Does Pujols have them?
It’s unclear, but if he doesn’t, he can prepare himself for when the time comes.
One thing is true: it will be exciting for fans who enjoyed his hitting talent for years to watch him in the dugout, leading the new generation of stars.
