Allen Iverson has remained relevant in NBA discourse as he’s been publicly supportive of the current generation of stars and players.
It’s rare in this day and age for league alumni to heap praise on today’s players, but Iverson has been generous and is happy to give praise when it’s due.
During his playing days, most notably with the Philadelphia 76ers, Iverson was a one-man scoring machine who almost led the team to a championship though he and the team fell to the eventual champions the Los Angeles Lakers.
Iverson leading the 76ers to the Finals is a massive accomplishment in of itself given that he didn’t have a true superstar co-star next to him.
The former superstar probably wouldn’t be actively looking to team up with other stars if he played in today’s game given his personality.
However, he did single out the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic as someone when would love to partner with via Rachel Nichols’ personal Twitter account.
“I think it’d just be deadly,” Iverson said.

Iverson explains that Doncic is a bigger point guard which would allow him to shift over to shooting guard, his natural position on the floor.
That set up is similar to how the Mavericks utilize Kyrie Irving and Doncic, two ball-dominant guards that can either playmake or score depending on the team’s needs.
Like Iverson, Irving is a score-first guard who is at his best when he gets to create his own offense and Doncic is the perfect running mate because of his vision and passing.
