Alvin Kamara, the starting running back of the New Orleans Saints, was facing battery charges after he allegedly punched a man at a nightclub multiple times the night before the Pro Bowl.
He was initially facing a felony charge, but a plea agreement reduced it to a misdemeanor, and he will merely perform community service while paying the victim for his medical bills.
However, Kamara is facing a potential suspension from the NFL, and he reportedly wants to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell to work something out.

Goodell has been criticized for his inconsistent reactions to players that have committed off-the-field indiscretions.
He suspended Cleveland Browns signal-caller Deshaun Watson for 11 games last season after he was hit with dozens of sexual misconduct lawsuits, but he also suspended wide receiver Calvin Ridley for the entire schedule for gambling.
A suspension for Kamara could at least partially torpedo what is looking to be a promising season for the Saints, a team that went 7-10 last season and has struggled ever since the retirement of Drew Brees.
Kamara is one of the league’s best dual-threat running backs, and last year he ran for 897 yards while adding 490 yards in the air.
Perhaps as an insurance policy, New Orleans brought in Jamaal Williams, who had 1,066 rushing yards and a league-high 17 rushing touchdowns last year, this offseason.
With new quarterback Derek Carr and the return of wide receiver Michael Thomas, who has been hit by injuries the last three years, the Saints look to have a great shot at finishing first in the NFC South.
