Star players who hold out during NFL minicamp and or training camp can be perceived as greedy and only caring about money rather than helping the team they play for prepare for a potential run at a Super Bowl heading into the regular season.
However, this can be a misconception at times because the team is almost always in control when it comes to their players, what they will get paid, and the leverage they have over these athletes, which can lead to some disputes ahead of the season.
It appears that star wide receiver Amari Cooper of the Cleveland Browns was one of those players, as he chose to holdout of minicamp recently until he got some things fixed in his deal, and he wanted to secure his future before risking injury on the practice field, which makes perfect sense because of the lack of a guarantee before Week 1 in September.
With training camp now underway for the Browns, Cooper opened up about his current situation with the franchise and how he chose to handle it moving forward via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.

As arguably one of the best offensive weapons on the team, along with fellow stars Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb, it isn’t all that surprising that Cooper would go in this direction.
As long as Cooper can stay healthy and productive on the football field, the Browns should be a force to be reckoned with once again next season.
