The 2024 Summer Olympics are just around the corner, which means Team USA is getting ready on the basketball court.

Big-name players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis are all part of the team.

One unique aspect of their practices is future NBA stars getting an opportunity to compete with Team USA.

Coming off his rookie season in the league, Amen Thompson of the Houston Rockets was among those given an opportunity to practice against James and Co.

He spoke very highly of the veteran Los Angeles Lakers superstar after playing against him.

“Dude’s 40 years old and he’s the best player on the court,” Thompson told the media afterward.

It is fair to say that James is one of the greatest athletes to ever play a team sport. About to turn 40 this December, he is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a 20-time All-Star.

It is hard to find a better player in the game today, even at his age. He has averaged at least 25.0 points per game in every one of his NBA seasons, except for his rookie year back in 2003-04.

Simply put, he is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time. So, for Thompson to say what he said isn’t crazy at all.

Even with Curry, Durant and young stars Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum out there, it still feels as if James is the lead dog in the locker room.

The four-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist has done plenty of legendary things in his career, which is why he has some of his peers in awe.
