One can argue we have never had this much talent in the NBA.

We could make a case for at least six players to be the MVP, and they would all be rightful winners.

That’s why even though Nikola Jokic deservingly won the award, others feel like there were better choices out there.

That includes ESPN analyst Andraya Carter.

Talking on “Get Up,” she made a case for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to be the winner.

While she didn’t want to take anything away from Jokic and the impressive season he had, she just felt like Shai’s run was more impressive.

Not only did he lead the second-youngest team in the league to the playoffs, but he also led the youngest No. 1 seed in NBA history, and we’re talking about the stacked Western Conference.

She also pointed out the fact that Shai averaged over 30 points per game on 54% shooting as a perimeter player, not to mention the impact he made on the defensive end of the floor.

Carter reported that he was second among guards in field goal percentage, trailing only T.J. McConnell, who took less than three times the field goals he took throughout the course of the season.

At the end of the day, it’s not about taking anything away from Jokic, who’s arguably the best player in the game right now.

But the Denver Nuggets were still a championship team, whereas the Oklahoma City Thunder didn’t even make the playoffs last year, so if we talk about the definition of “value,” perhaps SGA was slightly more valuable.
