Quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had an impressive 2023 season.
In the first year of the post-Tom Brady era, the team fought their way through a gritty NFC South and won the division at 9-8.
They also were able to beat the previous year’s NFC Super Bowl representatives in the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the playoffs.
However, despite a successful year last year, analyst Sam Monson believes Mayfield could regress in 2024.
“I’m still not ready to completely buy into Baker Mayfield…There’s absolutely a risk we get a regression this year,” Monson said via The 33rd Team.

The case could be made that Mayfield has yet to put together two consecutive seasons of consistent football.
He guided the Browns to the playoffs for the first time in a long time back in 2020 after throwing for over 3,500 yards, 26 touchdowns, and putting up a career-best passer rating of 95.9.
The following year, he went just 6-8 as the starter and threw 13 interceptions.
After making his first Pro Bowl appearance of his career after setting career-highs in completions, yards, touchdowns, and completion percentage, the goal for the former Heisman winner and his team is to make it further than the second round of the playoffs.
However, in a presumably better NFC South this year thanks to the additions that the Falcons, Saints, and Panthers have made, especially on defense, this year could be another tough one in the division.
Time will tell whether or not Mayfield can replicate his good play from a season ago.
