The Boston Celtics are facing a complicated situation in the offseason.
Jaylen Brown could be eligible for a supermax extension worth $290 million if he makes an All-NBA team, but not even that might be enough to get him to stay.
The latest buzz around the league is that Brown is ready to take his talents somewhere else, mostly out of frustration by his name being involved in trade rumors year in and year out.
There has been some growing speculation about Brown’s desire to stay in Boston, and he’s hinted at feeling undervalued by the organization.
That’s why former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins believes Brown is on his way out of Massachusetts, as he’s ‘giving him all the signs’ that he wants to leave.

Of course, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to Brad Stevens whatsoever.
Even if they’ve held onto him throughout his entire career, having his name thrown around in multiple trade rumors has taken a toll on him.
Also, he was quite close to Ime Udoka and Damon Stoudamire, and neither of those guys is there on the bench to try and keep him in check anymore.
Brown and Jayson Tatum have become one of the prime duos in the league and one that could dominate the Eastern Conference for at least six or seven more years at the highest level.
But he’s also blossomed as a star of his own, so he might feel ready to pursue a bigger challenge somewhere else where he can be the undisputed no. 1.
