The Minnesota Timberwolves have a building block for the future in Anthony Edwards.

We’re talking about a young man who’s taken the league by storm and is already considered to be a superstar, and he’s not even scratching the surface of his potential.

Some were talking about him as the second coming of Michael Jordan and him being the face of the league and whatnot, but his trip to the Western Conference Finals proved that he wasn’t ready just yet.

He needs to get in better shape, and spending another summer working out with Team USA should do wonders for his conditioning.

What doesn’t need more work is his confidence, though, as he recently claimed that he was the best player on the team and that everybody else would have to fit around him in order for things to work on the offensive end of the floor.

And while those comments rubbed some people the wrong way, former NFL player Chris Canty actually agrees with him.

In the latest edition of ESPN Radio’s UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio Show, Canty went name by name and stated that Edwards was, in fact, better than this current version of all the players on the roster.

That’s a bit of a stretch.

Yes, Kevin Durant and LeBron James are obviously on the decline, and he’s clearly better than, say, Jayson Tatum and Devin Booker, but he still has to earn his stripes.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see that becoming the case soon enough, though, but he’s not quite there yet.
