Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is not at OTAs this week as he seeks a new contract from the team.
The Cowboys said they want to sign Lamb to a new deal, and he indicated his desire to remain with Dallas.
The wideout’s timing could not be better, as he is coming off a spectacular season in 2023.
Lamb hauled in a team-record 135 receptions for a team-record 1,749 yards last year, and there is no reason to believe his pairing with Dak Prescott this fall would not produce similar or even greater results.
Craig Carton, per his show, believes the team “made a mistake” when it did not get a deal finalized with Lamb before mandatory minicamp began.

The team, at least to one expert, would have gotten Lamb for a lower dollar total a month ago than they will now if they choose to sign him.
Of course, there’s the Great Reset this week in the wide receiver market, with Justin Jefferson’s shocking $140 million contract.
If Lamb had been signed before Jefferson inked his record-breaking contract, that bar would have been set much lower.
But the genie is out of the bottle, and the price for Lamb’s services in Dallas grows by the day.
His rookie contract expires after this season, and he could well decide just to tough it out and play this fall and exit Dallas next year.
However, some believe it was a serious mistake for the Cowboys not to quickly rework compensation for a player who clearly outperformed his contract.
