The Golden State Warriors will enter a new era, one that doesn’t include Klay Thompson.

The legendary sharpshooter has taken his talents to the Dallas Mavericks, where he’ll join another elite duo, all while avoiding state tax.

The Mavericks got him on a three-year deal worth $50 million, which is far below what he was used to getting in California.

That’s why he’ll have to prove the doubters wrong and demonstrate that he still has plenty left in the tank, and the Mavs might give him the best opportunity to do so.

At least, that’s how former NFL star Plaxico Burress feels.

Talking on The Carton Show, the former wide receiver stated that he’s a perfect fit for what the Mavericks need based on his career track record, and he might be right on point.

“He fits the Dallas Mavericks based on where he is in his career.”

Thompson isn’t a good defender anymore, mostly because he’s lost a step, but there’s still a chance that he could get back to being at least an average stopper on that end of the floor if he’s used less on offense.

Also, the Mavs’ offense has a tendency to be stagnant and iso-heavy, and he’s got one of the quickest triggers in NBA history, so he could get a shot up in no time after Luka Doncic and/or Kyrie Irving dribble the basketball for 20 seconds.

The shot is the last part of the game to go away, and Thompson can still shoot like the best of them.

And with the kind of competitor he is, you know he’s going to have a huge chip on his shoulder every single night until he retires.
