The Los Angeles Lakers entered this season with high expectations.

They added some more depth to the core that made it to the Western Conference Finals last season, and it looked good on paper.

That same group of players had the second-best record in the league after the trade deadline, so there was no reason to believe they wouldn’t compete at a high level this season as well.

Fast forward to today, and that hasn’t been the case for the most part.

They’ve been a .500 basketball team for most of the year, and it’s evident that some things need to change.

However, their role players have gauged little to no interest around the league, and their future first-round pick doesn’t hold that much value right now.

With that in mind, NBA analyst Alan Hahn said on ESPN’s Get Up that he thinks the Lakers need to move on and trade LeBron James.

“The best asset the Lakers have to trade is Lebron James,” Hahn said.

While he acknowledged that he doesn’t think that’s going to happen, it would be best for all parties.

The Lakers could finally get something valuable in return and rebuild their team to start contending, and James would get one last chance to win another championship.

Hahn believes James’ cryptic sand clock tweet could be him saying that his time is running out and he knows he must pursue another championship while he still can, and that’s just not going to happen in Los Angeles.

The chances of the Lakers trading LeBron are quite slim right now, but it would make sense.
