One of the big pieces of breaking news that was released over the weekend came via The Roast of Tom Brady on Netflix.

During the roast, Tom Brady himself admitted to having a role in the Deflategate scandal.

Former league executive Andrew Brandt appeared on the “Ross Tucker Podcast” Tuesday to talk about the significance of Brady admitting to his wrongdoing.

“Wait a minute, he just admitted it…We’re not playing gotcha here, but it was a little fast and loose,” Brandt noted.

For context, before the 2014 AFC Championship Game against the Colts, Brady allegedly ordered the deflation of footballs in order to gain a better grip on the ball.

The Pats would go on to win, 45-7, which would lead to them winning the Super Bowl that year.

After a long, drawn out process, Brady was eventually suspended four games the following year as a result.

Yes, he admitted his wrongdoing during the roast, so it was funny in the moment.

But, like Brandt said, he still admitted it.

One of the greatest quarterbacks of all time seems to have admitted to cheating to try to gain an advantage in one of the biggest games of his career.

Remember, before New England won the Super Bowl that year, they hadn’t won a Super Bowl since the 2004 season.

It was a whole decade since they brought the Lombardi back to Foxborough.

If they didn’t win the Super Bowl in 2014, who knows if they would’ve gone on to win any other trophies?

That is why this scandal was so big.
