Will the Philadelphia 76ers lose James Harden this offseason?

That is a question that many fans are asking right now as rumors swirl about him possibly departing the team, presumably to return to the Houston Rockets.

NBA analyst Tim Legler thinks the Sixers shouldn’t keep the combination of Joel Embiid and Harden, because it will not result in a championship ring.

“I do not think so, because I don’t think you win a championship with James Harden. It’s just that simple,” Legler said on Tuesday’s First Take when asked if this pair should remain together.

Legler was quick to praise a lot of things about Harden and his ability on the court.

But he also claimed that a superstar cannot have the sort of “floor” that Harden does.

Legler argues that when Harden has a bad night, it’s really bad and the Sixers aren’t going to reach the Finals if he is playing like that.

Legler referred to Harden’s play during the playoffs.

On some nights, he would have a stellar performance and lead his team with nearly 50 points.

Then, on other nights, he couldn’t come even close to that and scored less than double digits.

This sort of inconsistency hurt the team and it also impaired the morale of other players, who lost belief.

Legler says that Harden will probably re-sign with Philadelphia for next season and he isn’t sure what sort of trade value he will have in the future.

But he thinks that this current iteration of the 76ers is not the one that will win a championship and that Harden isn’t playing like a reliable MVP anymore.
