The sample size is small but Craig Carton was very disturbed by what he saw from the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night.

Speaking on his show, Carton said the Mavericks are “outmatched” against the Boston Celtics.

Even though he knows things won’t remain as rough for Dallas as they were in Game 1, he still thinks that this could be a rough, and possibly short, series for the Mavericks.

“It looks like the Dallas Mavericks are outmatched.”

The Celtics looked like a dominant team on its way to another championship ring on Thursday night.

They played with speed, efficiency, and consistency, and there were multiple players who did big things.

In fact, there were six players with double-digit points during Game 1, including Kristaps Porzingis, who played his first game after weeks away with an injury.

The Celtics were a better team in just about every way during the game, even though the Mavericks brought it a little closer toward the start of the second half.

Dallas will have to fix a lot of things before Game 2 tips off on Sunday night but can they correct everything?

Luka Doncic scored 30 points but the Celtics were able to limit him in every other way.

He only had one assist for the entire game, a stunning disappointment because of Boston’s suffocating defense.

As for Kyrie Irving, he didn’t show up like he was supposed to and only scored 12 points.

Meanwhile, every starter for Boston was in double-digits and Porzingis was red-hot coming off the bench.

Will this set the tempo for the rest of the series or will Dallas bounce back in a big way in Game 2?
