Klay Thompson is known for many things but not for having strong defensive skills.
Now that he has joined the Dallas Mavericks, some people are warning the team did not get better and still has some big liabilities.
On “The Carton Show,” Craig Carton stated that the Mavericks “did not get better” with the acquisition of Thompson, who won’t help them at all on defense.
The team has struggled on that end of the court for a long time and adding Thompson did nothing to improve them.

The Mavericks went all the way to the NBA Finals last month but they were pretty easily pushed aside by the champion Boston Celtics.
A big reason for that was Dallas’ lackluster defense, which is often porous and inexperienced.
Even with his recent problems, Thompson will go down as one of the best shooters in NBA history, but his defense has never been top-notch.
Unfortunately, the Mavericks need top-notch defense if they wish to win a championship any time soon.
The Mavericks will now have a team with three supremely impressive and well-known shooters: Thompson, Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving.
But their defense might still leave much to be desired.
Of course, they could make changes in the month ahead to improve that and perhaps some more trades are on the horizon.
If not, the team will be an offensive threat but not much of a defensive one.
The trade for Thompson was a big one, a blockbuster move that created a lot of headlines.
But will it create a lot more wins for the Mavericks too?
