The Philadelphia 76ers could face a key stretch here.

Tyrese Maxey is dealing with an injury, and they now have a scare with Joel Embiid, who suffered an injury late in the game vs. the Golden State Warriors.

Embiid’s injury and absence have now fueled a debate around the league.

While most fans believe that it’s fair that players should play a minimum of 65 games to be eligible for MVP and All-NBA selections, some players don’t seem to agree.

Embiid is reportedly playing through injury to avoid backlash after sitting out several games.

This Sixers team has fared well even without him, yet they’re not that far ahead in the Eastern Conference standings.

Whatever the case, sports analyst Mark Schlereth believes none of what they do in the regular season will matter anyway, as he believes they’re not going to be able to get the job done when it matters the most:

“The Philadelphia 76ers are the Cowboys of the NBA. They’ve got talent, they’re gonna be great right until playoffs roll around. Then they’re gonna fold their little tents,” he said.

Talking on The Carton Show, he compared the Sixers with the Dallas Cowboys, predicting they would crumble under pressure in the playoffs despite all the talent they have.

Truth be told, the Sixers have underperformed multiple times throughout the course of history, and that’s despite having a solid core.

Perhaps Nick Nurse will finally be able to get them over the hump and lead them to the NBA Finals for the first time in more than two decades.
