Cam Newton had some words to say about a few MVP-caliber quarterbacks this week.
The former Carolina Panthers star called current quarterbacks like Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, and Dak Prescott all “game managers” on an episode of “4th&1 with Cam Newton.”
Newton went on to say that those quarterbacks’ respective teams weren’t winning games because of their play.
That assessment drew the ire of Fox Sports analyst Jason McIntyre, who went on a four-and-a-half-minute tirade about why Newton was wrong.
McIntyre even said that Prescott has already had a better career than Newton did.
“Cam Newton, you had a worse career than Dak Prescott.”

Now, it’s tough to unequivocally say Prescott has had a better career than Newton for two reasons: Newton has an MVP trophy and made a Super Bowl, while Prescott has played 38 fewer games and is still in the midst of his career.
But the stats are mostly in Prescott’s favor.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback averages more passing yards per game than Newton (258.6 for Prescott vs. 218.8 for Newton), has thrown fewer interceptions (71 vs. 123), has a higher career completion percentage (66.9 vs. 59.9) and has a better career quarterback rating (99.0 vs. 85.2).
Prescott also has a higher win percentage (64.5 percent) than Newton (50.6 percent).
The two have the same amount of career passing touchdowns with 194.
The biggest differences between the two are personal accolades and rushing production.
Newton has three Pro Bowls compared to Prescott’s two and has one All-Pro, one Offensive Player of the Year Award, and an MVP award.
He’s also rushed for 3,801 more yards and 47 more touchdowns than Prescott.
But Prescott has more time in his career, and he could match Newton’s trophy case this season if the Cowboys continue to win.
