The New York Giants have been getting a lot of coverage this offseason because they are the team that was chosen to be on the offseason edition of Hard Knocks.
So naturally, every important conversation and decision is going to get shown to the whole world.
Earlier this offseason, Giants owner John Mara told Giants GM Joe Schoen and Co. that he “would have a tough time sleeping” if Saquon Barkley ended up signing with the rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Of course, that is exactly what happened as Barkley would go on to sign a three-year deal with the team this offseason.
Fox Sports host Craig Carton takes issue with Mara for making that statement.
“Then why didn’t you make him the offer that would’ve kept him? That’s on you,” Carton recently said on The Carton Show.

By most accounts, Barkley was the Giants’ best overall player for the last handful of years.
The two-time Pro Bowl back and former Offensive Rookie of the Year recorded three 1,000-yard rushing seasons and four seasons with at least 1,200 scrimmage yards.
His 2018 rookie season was one for the ages as he recorded over 2,000 scrimmage yards and set the NFL record for receptions by a rookie running back (91).
Despite injuries slowing him down, he was still the core piece of this New York offense for six seasons.
Now, after Big Blue failed to offer him the contract that he wanted this offseason, he bolted for a better deal on a much better squad, on paper at least, in the Philadelphia Eagles.
That has to make Mara and Co. sick to their stomachs.
